What to do on
Spring Break
in Puerto
Vallarta
In
recent years, Puerto Vallarta has
become Mexico's hottest destination
for Spring Break vacationers.
Daytime
activities and
raging
nightlife,
Puerto Vallarta
offers something
for every Spring
Breaker!
Puerto
Vallarta's
gathering
hot spot is
the famed,
Malecon
(boardwalk.)
During
Spring
Break, this
long strip
is packed
with barely
clad,
fashionable
college
students
from the US
and Mexico
City.
During the
day, the
malecon is a
great place
to take your
beer for a
stroll (any
nightclub/bar
will give
you a to go
cup), have a
caricature
made of
yourself and
friends, or
shop in the
many beach-ie
clothing
stores that
line the
way.

At night,
guys dress
casual to
fashionable
and the
women wear
anything
from bikini
tops to
trendy club
outfits.
Particularly
the Mexican
nationals-
scantily
clad,
shimmery,
and ready to
party.
This is
definitely
the place to
see and be
seen!
During the
day, the
best beach
is Los
Muertos
although any
resort in
the hotel
zone will
have it's
own private
stretch
where
margaritas
and beers
are served
under
umbrellas
and sea
activities
are right in
front of
you;
parasail,
kayak, jet
ski,
snorkel,
scuba dive-
you name it!
For those
interested
in
adventure,
take an ATV
tour, canopy
tour, or
even a
jungle tour.
Hop a bus
and check
out Boca de
Tomatlan- a
tranquil
cove south
of Puerto
Vallarta
where the
beers are
cheap and
water taxis
leave
regularly to
Yelapa, Los
Animas and
Las Caletas-
surfing is
popular at
these
points, and
these
secluded
beaches are
great for
topless
sunbathing.
Love Mexican
food?
Or crave a
good old
fashioned
hamburger?
While you
can still
have
Dominoes
delivered to
your hotel
room
(although I
say Tower
Pizza here
is better)
there are
endless
options for
dining.
Taco stands
are
everywhere-
the best
shrimp taco
stands are
in old town
near Rizzo's
grocery
store, or
you can head
to historic
Olas Altas
street
(think
French
Quarter
equiv in New
Orleans) for
a choice
between fine
dining,
traditional
Mexican
food, sushi,
Chinese, or
even
Italian.
Shopping-
your best
bargains are
usually on
the beach,
but hidden
marketplaces
offer
souvenirs,
clothing,
and
accessories.
The "flea
market" is
located next
to the Rio
Calle
bridge; 2
levels of
shopping
with
friendly,
barely pushy
salespeople.
For those
daring
enough to
head inland,
shop where
the locals
shop-
Pitillal is
a short bus
ride inland
and offers
everything
from
fashions to
souvenirs at
local
prices.
This is also
the hot spot
for buying
pirated
dvd's and
video games-
just be sure
to have them
played on
site to make
sure they
work.
No matter
what your
interests,
Spring Break
in Puerto
Vallarta
will
undoubtedly
be your most
memorable
college
getaway-
See you
there!
