One of the
most
beautiful
hideaways
surrounding
Puerto
Vallarta is
Playa
Mismaloya.
A quaint
lagoon is
surrounded
by a strip
of sand
where the
Mismaloya
stream
calmly joins
the ocean.
Just south
of Hotel
Mismaloya,
the beach is
softly
sprinkled
with palapa
restaurants
and offers
the perfect
place to
sit, drink,
dine and
enjoy
watching the
local
fisherman
just off the
shore.
The 1963
filming of
"Night of
the Iguana"
is
remembered
here, where
just a few
hundred feet
away, the
remains of
the original
set and
cast's
quarters
still
reside.
Just North
of the site,
the Los
Arcos sea
rocks are
often
recognized
easily,
being a
favorite
Puerto
Vallarta
photograph
location.
In the
evening, the
sunset can
be seen
through the
center of
the stones,
with bright
orange,
pink, or
even purple
towns
surrounding.
The Los
Arcos sea
rocks are
also part of
the federal
underwater
park and
ecopreserve.
Los Arcos is
considered
one of the
best
snorkeling
locations in
all of
Puerto
Vallarta.
A
glass-bottomed
boat can be
hired for
transportation
from the
Mismaloya
lagoon.
Fishing is
another
sport
popular to
Mismaloya.
Beach
combing and
sunbathing
are
exceptional
due to the
lack of
crowds.
Restaurants
in
Mismaloya-
these small
establishments
offer
quaint,
traditional
fare that is
both
inexpensive
and tasty.
Come hungry,
and expect
to leave
full!
Restaurant
Las Gaviotas
is located
across from
the river
and is known
for an
exceptional
breakfast.
John
Huston Cafe
is famous
for its
view, as is
Night of
the Iguana
Restaurant
offers
breakfast,
lunch and
dinner and
offers
beautiful
photos from
the making
of the movie
and a daily
showing.
Nearby:
Chino's
Paradise and
Eden's
Paradise.
